Vision and Mission of the Department

 

Vision:

To produce quality manpower and technology of global standard in the field of Transport Science and Technology by providing a sustainable scientific and technical education system to fulfill the technological needs of the nation and create an environment to cultivate and propagate innovative technologies.

Mission:

•To create a healthy environment to attract student and highly reputed faculty for personal and professional development with high ethical and moral values.

•To cultivate a sense of importance of environment in the transportational and technological development in the nation.

•A continuous upgradation of the syllabi and laboratory to train the students in latest development in the field of engineering and technology for better employment.

•To motivate the faculty to facilitate consultancy work for industry and public sectors.



Department's Profile

 

The Department of Transport Science and Technology has been started in the year 2019 under the school of Engineering & Technology. Initially it offered only 2 year M.Tech in Transport Science and Technology with the intake of 22 students. The department is going to offers Ph.D program in Transport Science and Technology from upcoming session of 2020-21. The sole motto of the Department is to be a center of excellence in the field of Transport Science and Technology. It will always go for providing a world class research facility and will always be committed for an overall educational development of the students. It is also committed to have industrial cooperation, taking care of the future of students as well as of the Department. The research in the department is focused on major thrust areas of transportation like pavement material and designing, traffic engineering, road safety audit, sustainable practices in transportation engineering, transport and environmental, Impact of transportation on climate change, intelligent transportation system, airport designing, waterways transportation and on other relevant areas for advance transport system. The Department will also show its commitment to work with the regional and national authorities to short out the problems related to transportation in association with technologies for sustainable environment.

 

 

 

 

The Department of Transport Science and Technology offered following programme

M.Tech in Transport Science and Technology Programme (As per AICTE regulation):

Eligibility: Candidates with B.E./B. Tech in Civil/Civil and Environmental Engineering/Urban and Regional Planning/Architectural Engineering/Environmental Engineering will be eligible for admission in the MTech Course. Obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category, i.e., SC/ST/OBC/PWD) in the qualifying Examination. GATE in Civil Engineering/Architecture and Planning/ Environmental Science and Engineering qualified students may be allowed and will get the fellowship as per UGC/AICTE norms.

PhD  in Transport Science and Technology:

 

Eligibility: Keeping in view of interdisciplinary nature of Transport Science and Technology, the eligibility criteria for admission in Ph. D. programme will be-


(i) Mater Degree (M.E/M. Tech.) in Geotechnical Engineering, Transport Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Environmental Science and Engineering.


(ii) Master degree (M.Sc.) in (Environmental science, Water resource management, Geoinformatics,Geology).


(iii) Master degree (M.E./M. Tech.) with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 5.50 on a 10 point scale, or 55% marks for General (UR) category. For OBC/SC/ST or PWD candidates the minimum CGPA requirements may be relaxed to 5.00 on a 10 point scale or to 50% marks.

1. Special guest lecture on topic “Introductory Concepts of Flexible and Rigid Pavements” by Dr. Brind Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT, BHU on 16 January 2020.
2. Organize a webinar on the topic “National Webinar on Restoration of Ecosystem Services: Challenges & Opportunities” 5th June 2021 in association with Department of Environmental Science, CUJ, Ranchi.
