Ranchi, Jan 14, 2016:CUJ celebrated 153rd Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda

Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated with great vigour and enthusiasm in the premises of Central University of Jharkhand. On this occasion, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ranchi, Swami Bhawishyanandwas the chief guest and speaker. Programme started with lighting of the lamp and felicitation of the guest by the Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jharkhand Prof. Nand Kumar Yadav ‘Indu’.


Swami Bhawishyanand delivered speech on the topic ‘Vivekananda’s philosophy on education’. He said that solution to each problem is right kind of education. He also spoke about Vivekananda’s four pillars of education - learning to know, learning to do, learning to discover and learning to be.  On this occasion, Swami Bhawishyanand gifted collected works of Swami Vivekananda to the library of University. A booklet on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda was distributed among students. 

The Vice Chancellor of the univeristy Prof Nand Kumar Yadav ‘Indu’ also shared his views in this event. He said if someone wants to know India then s/he should know Swami Vivekananda ideology. His books are sources of empowerment. He also quoted Vivekananda’s saying in his speech that atheists are not those who have disbelief upon God; atheists are those who do not believe on themselves.
Many competitions were organised as a part of this celebration. In essay competition first prize was won by Sanchayan Mahato, second prize by Birju Kumar, and third prize by Nitish Kumar and Sudhanshu Shekhar jointly. A 40 minutes documentary based on the life of Swami Vivekananda was also screened on this occasion. Musical performance by the student captivated the ambience.
