The employees and students of Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) today bid farewell to Prof Darlando T Khathing, founding Vice Chancellor of the varsity.
Ranchi, Apr 11: The employees and students of Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) today bid farewell to Prof Darlando T Khathing, founding Vice Chancellor of the varsity.
A meeting of teachers, research scholars, students and non-teaching employees of the CUJ was held at the auditorium of the CUJ on the occasion.
Prof Khathing completed his tenure of five years as VC on February 28, 2014 and handed over charge to senior most professor of the CUJ Prof A N Mishra on March 1, 2014.
During his speech at the meeting, Prof Khathing thanked every member of the university for his/her support and reiterated that whatever he could manage to achieve was because of their dedication and commitment.
The CUJ would continue to grow, he said adding nobody is indispensable. He appealed to all to work united for the cause of the CUJ.
Vice chancellor A N Mishra said, “I have learnt a lot from Prof Khathing” and hoped that Prof Khathing would continue to guide the university in the days to come too.
Registrar (in-charge) Prof R K Dey gave a brief summary of the illustrious career of the founding vice chancellor. Prof A K Sharma from Centre for English Language gave introduction speech.
Deans—Prof SK Tewari, Prof A Dutta, Prof T Ghoshal, Prof SK Samdarshi, Prof A C Pandey, Prof Jeuti Baruah, Prof D K Banerjee, controller of exam Dr J N Nayak also spoke on the occasion.
Students of final year, who are first batch of the CUJ, established in 2009, expressed about their "pleasant and wonderful" experience with Prof Khathing.
