3-Wk Instructional School on mathematics begins at CUJ
Ranchi, Dec 17: A 3-week long Instructional School, 2013 on 'Group Theory and Linear Algebra' organized by the Centre for Applied Mathematics (CAM) of Central University of Jharkhand was inaugurated today.
The programme is being jointly held with the support of National Board for Higher Mathematics (DAE, Government of India).
About 36 participants, from senior undergraduate (UG) and PG level, including 29 from different parts of the country took part in the programme, coordinator Jagmohan Tanti said adding they were from Bhubaneswar, Patna, Tezpur, Jamshedpur and Ranchi.
Patron of the inaugural session, vice chancellor of CUJ Prof Darlando T Khathing appreciated the CAM’s initiative in holding such programme and hoped that it would widen the mental horizon of the students in terms of the approach of the subject as well as developing a scientific temperament.
Prof Khathing also hoped the students would derive much benefit from such school.
Chief Guest of the occasion Prof (retd) A M Vaidya of Gujarat University, also former member of National Board of Higher Mathematics, said this type of ‘school’ is very important and it works more like motivator.
Prof Vaidya said the students get exposure through interaction and may be inspired for going ahead with higher aim from this.
Registrar Prof A K Sharma, faculty members, senior administrative staff and students were present on the occasion.
