The valecidtory session of the International Conference “The Next Leap: Exploring New Paradigms in Business” organised by the Centre for Business Administration, Central University of Jharkhand was held on 7th February, 2014. The session was addressed by Prof. Jean Dreze, noted economist and co-author of books with Nobel Laureate Prof. Amartya Sen, Prof. Sanjaya Gaur, Professor, Auckland University of Technology & Director, Bank of India, New Zealand, and Ms Anumeha, HR Head, Bihar & Jharkhand of Aditya Birla Minacs.
Prof. T Ghoshal, Dean, School of Management Sciences welcomed the guests and informed everyone of the tremendous response received in terms of papers and participation in the conference and thaked everyone for the same. The speakers talked about the impending challenges for need for looking at business from a holistic point of view and align it to sustainable development of society. Prof. Jean Dreze stressed that the main challenge today is to create business practices that, while creating shareholders’ wealth is capable to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Prof. Gaur highlighted the five emerging paradigms of business – well connected customers, creating a liberated flexible workforce , asset-less enterprises, reversing values and variety seeking behaviour of customers and said that managers of today must meet these challenges effectively. Ms Anumeha talked about the urgent need to create a work-life balance for maximizing productivity for industries. Eminent scholars, researchers, academicians and practitioners  both form India as well as from New Zealand, Australia, Yemen, Russia, China etc. attended the valedictory session.  conference aims at analyzing contemporary practices and exploring emerging trends in business for creating “Better Business – Better Lives. Eminent scholars, researchers, academicians and practitioners would share their thoughts in the conference and explore new paradigms of business. The two day conference will witness deliberations on the theme for creating “Better Business – Better Lives” so that consumers and society tend to gain from better business and corporate practices.  
Dr Hasit Joshipura, Sr. Vice President South Asia and Managing Director, Glaxo India Ltd., shall be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Others addressing the conference include Prof. Jean Dreze, noted economist and co-author of books with Nobel Laureate Prof. Amartya Sen, Prof. Sanjaya Gaur, Professor, Auckland University & Director, Bank of India, New Zealand and Prof. Pradeep Taneja, Professor, Melbourne University, Australia.
