Ranchi, Mar 1: Prof Amarendra Narayan Mishra, Dean of Life Sciences will be the Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jharkhand.

Prof Darlando T Khathing, the founding vice chancellor completed his tenure of five years on February 28 last.

According a letter issued by the MHRD dtd 28-02-2014, with reference to the provisions contained in Section 2 (7) of the Statutes of the University, the senior most Professor of the University-Prof A N Mishra shall perform the duties as Vice Chancellor until a new VC assumes of or further direction from the MHRD, whichever is earlier.

The MHRD letter was dashed to all the 12 CUs established simultaneously.

Earlier, a letter from MHRD dtd 26-02-2014 said about the extension of the VC’s tenure citing the Section 2 (4) of the Statute (Schedule 2 of the Central University Act, 2009). Prof Mishra assuming the charge said priority would be accorded to keeping up spirit of programmes by outgoing incumbent Prof Khathing who worked relentlessly for the varsity.

The new VC said every individual of CUJ should work united for the uplift of the CUJ.

The CUJ completed its five years today and a function was organized to celebrate the occasion.

Deans comprising Prof Taposh Ghoshal, Prof Arunabha Datta, Prof S K Samadarshi, Prof A C Pandey and all senior administrative officers spoke on the occasion. Former Dean of Languages Prof B P Sinha recalled his tenure with the CUJ.

Students of the tenth semester, who had been enrolled in 2009, spread over four centres—Mass Communication, Business Administration, Applied Mathematics and English shared their experiences.
