Ranchi, May 28: A seven-day orientation course for NSS programme officers mainly from Jharkhand and Bihar began at Central University of Jharkhand today.
About 100 POs of different plus two level and UG level institutions across the two states took part in the programme that was jointly organiased by Training Orientation and Research Centre (TORC), Ramkrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur in Kolkata and Central University of Jharkhand.
CUJ vice chancellor Prof A N Misra graced the inaugural session as chief guest and dean of students’ welfare Prof SK Samdarshi presided over the programme in presence of coordinator (training) TORC, Pro TK Panda and Prof Amitava Khandait, Lecturer, TORC.
The vice chancellor in his address gave a brief profile of the university, its academic thrust and students’ activities. He said the CUJ besides imparting education also tries to inculcate the sense of social responsibility.
Prof Samdarshi gave an account of social responsibilities and the CUJ’s emphasis on making students grow with sense of duty and deliver their bits for society as citizens. He hoped that the NSS programme would help to a great extent towards this goal.
