CUJ marks birth anniversary of Maulana Azad

Ranchi, Nov 11: The Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) today marked the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad as “National Education Day” with a day long programme.

A large number of students and employees of CUJ took part in a march flagged off by vice chancellor Prof A N Misra holding placards spreading messages on education.

Among other programmes, essay competition (Topic: Maulana Azad and his Vision of Education), elocution competition (Topic: Role of Education in Modern Society) and poster competition (Topic: Education for Transforming India) were held.

Sudipta Maji of Centre for English bagged first prize in essay competition followed by Prashant Shekhar of Integrated Land Resource Management (2nd) and Sushmita Sharma of Integrated Nano Technology (3rd).

Shivangee Saurabh of MBA bagged the first prize in elocution while Anurag Rawat of Mass Communication and Udita Pal of Mass Communication were placed second and third respectively.

Dibyapriya Hazra of Applied Mathematics got the first prize in poster making while Eva Jyoti Lakra of Tribal and Customary Law was adjudged second and Peetam Mandal of Applied Chemistry third.

 

Vice chancellor Prof Misra before distributing prizes to the winners spoke on Maulana Azad’s contribution and urged academicians and scholars to dedicate to the cause of unity and uplift of the country.

Dean of Mass Communication Prof S K Tewari also spoke on the occasion.  

Mr Mahendra Singh and Dr H Mahato were the event organizers of the march, Mrs Prgyan Pushpanjali  (essay), Dr Soumen Roy (poster making) and Dr S K Shukla (elocution).

A film on Maulana Azad arranged by Mr Nitesh Bhatia was screened in the auditorium.

Programme organizer Dr Manoj Kumar proposed the vote of thanks while Mrs Neha Kaur conducted the prize distribution programme
