‘Unnayan’, an educational and social responsibility wing of the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) today distributed warm clothes to at least 200 underprivileged children hailing from villages near campus at Brambe.
This was part of a programme held at the varsity campus on the occasaion of Children’s Day.
Vice chancellor Prof A N Misra lauded the efforts of faculty members and students of CUJ actively associated with ‘Unnayan’ who impart free coaching to children from primary to class X students from nearby villages
Prof Misra expressed happiness that the students from the neighbouring vilages were doing better every passing year and hoped that they would make worthy citizens in the days to come.
Dr H Mahto,coordinator of the Unnayan said a painting competition was held among the children in which Rupa Kumari got the first prize in junior group, Niraj Kumar Gupta in the middle group and Jyoti Pallvi in the senior respectively.
Dr Mahto said children now under the tutelage of the CUJ students and faculty were doing well in the board exams as well.
A cultural programme was held in the campus auditorium.
