A special lecture on Shakespeare at Central University of Jharkhand

Ranchi, Nov 22: A Special lecture on Shakespeare has been organised by Centre for English Studies, Central University of Jharkhand.

 Prof. Sharbani Chaudhuri, Professor in English, Kalyani University, Kolkata yesterday delivered the lecture on Shakespeare’s Othello and Merchant of Venice.

Prof Chaudhuri insightfully analysed the texts from new perspectives and tried to locate both texts to the then history of England.

She also emphasised on gender discrimination, which lies within the Shakespearean texts,Othello and Merchant of Venice.

Above all, she offered a psychoanalytic perspective on Shakespearean tragic heroes like Othello, Shylock etc.

On this occasion, all the faculty members, research scholars and students were present and interacted with the speaker.

Prof B.P, Sinha, Dean and Prof A. K. Sharma, Registrar, facilitated the speaker.
