Ranchi, Oct 28: Different activities are being planned as the Central University of Jharkhand is preparing to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary on October 31 next.

Prof S K Tewari, dean of Mass Communication, also in charge of VC, said the daylong programme is being held as per advice of University Grant Commission.
Dean of Business Administration Prof Taposh Ghoshal, who is programme coordinator, said it is aimed at spreading the message of unity, public safety and security.

The programmes included pledge to be administered by Prof Ghoshal followed by march past (by students), run for unity (students and employees), essay competition (for students) and debate competition (for students).
The topic for debate is “Unity in Diversity” and essay competition- “Role of Sardar Patel in nation building”.

A meeting chaired by Prof Tewari decided that both the competitions would be in English and Hindi languages.

Dean of academics Prof A Datta, event organisers comprising Dr Praveen K Sarma (march past), Mr Rajesh Kumar (run for unity), Mrs Pragya Pushpanjali (essay competition), Dr Dev Vrat Singh (debate competition),   K P Mohanta (Deputy Registrar), Prasanta Bora (CCO) and Praveen Kumar (Assistant Registrar) were present at the meeting.
