The concept of Jai Jagat is associated with Vinayak Narahari, popularly known as Acharya Vinoba Bhave who had been chosen as the first satyagrahi to start personal satyagraha by Mahatma Gandhi on this day, October 17, 1940.

Vice chancellor Prof A N Misra in his inaugural speech talked on Gandhian philosophy and impact on Acharya Bhave. Prof Misra said it was dream of Gandhiji, the father of the nation, that rural India develops and Vinoba Bhave just did that. The VC recalled how Jaiprakash Narayan popularly called Lok Nayak, was inspired and launched a revolutionary movement.

Prof S K Samdarshi, Dean of School of Engineering and Technology, offered a brief sketch on Vinoba Bhave’s life.

Prof B P Sinha, former Dean of Languages of CUJ in his key note address made a critical analysis of Gandhi philosophy and its influence not only in India but also his fight against racial discrimination, mainly in South Africa.

Prof Sinha talked on the bhoodan movement and suggested how landlords those days mostly parted with their barren lands in the name of donation!

Registrar in-charge Prof S Medhekar, Dean of Academics Prof Arunabha Datta, Controller of Exam Dr J N Nayak, Dean Prof Prof A C Pandey, faculty members and students in large number took part in the programme.

Ranvijay, coordinator of the centre said the Acharya was follower of Gandhian philosophy adding his contribution to the Indian society and farmers was tremendous.
“Remembering him through this event will provide strength to our younger generation”, he said.

Cleaners engaged in the university campus were felicitated and cultural events, khadi display and food festival were held on the occasion.
