Energy Sector  reforms work to be undertaken by Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) and CEED

Ranchi, 8th June, 2018, Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) and Centre for Environment and Energy Development  (CEED) today signed an agreement to undertake research related to energy sector reforms to create an enabling framework to realize power for all in the state of Jharkhand. The memorandum of understanding was executed in the presence of his excellency, Vice Chancellor Professor Nand kumar Yadav 'Indu' and was signed by registrar of JUC, Professor S.L. Hari Kumar, Professor S.K. Samdarshi, Centre for Energy Engineering and Ramapati Kumar, CEO of Centre for Environment and Energy Development (CEED).

The work will focus on larger energy sector reforms and suggest various policy formulation and reforms including focus on power sector, clean energy and transportation. The work entails various research and its applications for uptake of renewable energy in  the state of Jharkhand. The work will further engage with various stakeholder such as energy department, distribution company, Electricity regulatory commission and general public. The work also includes various campaign related to education and awareness and training for capacity development for various stakeholders.The work will help state of Jharkhand to achieve its mandate to provide quality electricity to the people and will suggest a better interface between the people and government institution


 

 

His excellency, vice chancellor Professor Nand kumar yadav' indu said that the agreement between CUJ and CEED will deepen the research in energy and power sector and will help the state of Jharkhand in general and people in particular. The university will take leadership to conduct research to help reduce the gap in policy making, he concluded.

Professor S.L. Hari Kumar, Registrar of CUJ and Professor S.K. Samdarshi showed keen interest in taking the work forward on larger energy sector reforms and hope that this association with CEED will help answer many unanswered question related to energy sector in the state of Jharkhand. The work will help state of jharkhand to find an enabling framework for power sector, renewable energy and transportation.

Ramapati Kumar, CEO, CEED thanked the CUJ for joining hands and described this association as need of the hour, because CUJ is one of the pioneer institute in the region in the field of energy. This association will bridge the gap between people and the government/executing agencies through policy making.
